National Office Announces
Identification Policy
By Mark Harman
USGTF Course Director, Pensacola, FL

With the introduction of four levels of certification, we feel it’s necessary to clarify how members of each level may describe themselves, when identifying themselves as USGTF members. These guidelines are now ensconced as part of Article III of the USGTF Code of Ethics. They pertain to all promotional materials, including business cards.

Of particular concern is the use of the word “certified” and the phrase “teaching professional” by themselves. Identifying oneself solely as “USGTF certified,” or “USGTF teaching professional” by Level I and Level II members is misleading. Below are guidelines which must be adhered to by all USGTF members in good standing:

• Level I (Affiliate Member) – Must always use the term “Affiliate Member” in some capacity with USGTF identification. Allowed are such terms as USGTF Affiliate Member, USGTF Certified Affiliate Member, USGTF Affiliate Member Teaching Professional, and other such similar terms. Note that the word “certified” may be used, but must always be accompanied by the “Affiliate Member” description. Not allowed are such terms as USGTF Certified, USGTF Teaching Professional, or any similar term without the words “Affiliate Member.”

•Level II (Associate Member) – Must always use the term “Associate Member” in some capacity with USGTF identification. Allowed are such terms as USGTF Associate Member, USGTF Certified Associate Member, USGTF Associate Member Teaching Professional, and other such similar terms. Note that the word “certified” may be used, but must always be accompanied by the “Associate Member” description. Not allowed are such terms as USGTF Certified, USGTF Teaching Professional, or any similar term without the words “Associate Member.”

•Level III (Fully-Certified Member) – May use virtually any term with the exception of “Master Teaching Professional.” Allowed are such terms as USGTF Certified, Fully-Certified, USGTF Teaching Professional, etc.

•Level IV (Master Teaching Professional) – May use virtually any term, including the use of the phrase “Master Teaching Professional.”

If you have any questions regarding this policy, please feel welcome to call the home office at 888-346-3290, or e-mail National Course Director Mark Harman, mark@usgtf.com.
