My enthusiasm for
the game began with my dad while I was in high school.
In 1970, I joined the Air Force and was stationed at Elgin Air
Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. That is when my passion
for game became even more real when I recorded my first sub par
round – a 65! I was later transferred to Clark Air Force Base in
the Philippines and assisted at the base golf club.
Upon my return to the United States, I attended Texas Tech University
in Lubbock, Texas. There I was on the golf team and over the next
few years had a very successful amateur career. I decided that I
wanted to be more involved in the golf industry, so I purchased
a golf retail store and club repair. It was at that same time that
the USGTF came into my career.
In 1997, I completed my certification in South Texas. I would like
to thank Steve Williams, Leslie Duke and Mike Levine for helping
me. Since gaining my certification I have owned the Lubbock Golf
Academy, I was an assistant at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and offered the Director of Instruction
position at Possum Trot Learning Center. There I taught with America’s
Favorite Golf Schools and enhanced my knowledge and desire even
further to teach.
In 2000, I relocated back to the Dallas area where I have had the
pleasure of meeting and working with USGTF Master Teaching Professional
Rick Howard. We are presently conducting America’s Favorite Golf
Schools in both Dallas and San Antonio. I have also recently been
hired as the Head Golf Professional at the Golf Club at McKinney
in McKinney, Texas. I would like to thank fellow USGTF member J.D.
Winkle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for his belief in me to make the
recommendation for that position.
The USGTF has come full circle for me. Because of this great organization
and the people within it I am grateful. This is allowing me to promote
the game of golf and live my dream!
