Each month the USGTF features an individual profile of a teaching professional who excels in his profession. If you would like to be featured, please submit your photo and brief profile to jenn@usgtf.com. DAVID VAUGHT Longtime USGTF Master Teaching Professional David Vaught has, as one of his main motivations to always give his best, a fear of giving a bad lesson. That alone should tell you about one of the USGTF’s most accomplished instructors. Vaught first achieved his USGTF certification in 1993 at Lehigh Acres, Florida, and his career has been on nothing but an upswing since. A serious student of the game, Vaught is also an expert clubfitter and maker. He currently serves as the Director of Instruction for America’s Favorite Golf Schools at San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsall, California, and is also the teaching professional at the course. Vaught says, courtesy of San Luis Rey Downs’ website: “I believe in teaching to the students’ strengths and helping them identify what they need to do to enjoy the game more and improve their scoring. I don’t subscribe to any certain method, although I am a dedicated student of the swing and I can teach different methods if so desired.” Vaught is also one of the WGTF’s Top 100 Teachers worldwide, and has been on that list since 2006.
