BOB JEWETT
USGTF Level III Member, Springfield, Virginia

I attended the certification course at Port St. Lucie, Florida, earlier this year and passed the test to be certified at Level III. Bob Wyatt was our instructor and we all learned a lot from him.

I received my Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Florida in 1971, and spent 35 years doing mathematical programming for the Census Bureau and the Department of Agriculture. I retired in 2007.

My wife Suzanne and I have been married 36 years. We have two children and two grandchildren.

I have played golf for almost 50 years. Over the years, I have developed simple techniques to help me improve my golf game, and I would like to teach golf so I can share my understanding of the game with others. I can honestly say that I now enjoy golf more than ever.

From what I can tell, many teachers are skilled at identifying swing flaws in other golfers, but they do not understand why the players have developed those flaws in the first place. In most cases, I have been able to uncover the reason why the swing flaws occur, and I have figured out very simple ways to correct them. I believe my teaching ideas will make it easier for some golfers to improve.

My goal is to increase my understanding of the game of golf, to improve my skill at finding ways to help my fellow golfers, and learning how to communicate my ideas to others.

I know this is going to be very difficult. What the heck – if I was afraid of a difficult task, I would never have played golf in the first place!
