Louis
Lopez
USGTF Level III, Camarillo, California
|
My name is Louis Lopez, and I was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico,
in October of 1920. In 1934, I moved to Camarillo, California, were I still
reside with my lovely wife of 19 years, Lesa Lopez.
I am a self-taught golfer with a true passion for the game. I played my fi rst game of golf in 1948 at Montavolo Municipal Golf Course in Ventura
County, California. I was able to play 18 holes that day for a total cost of
50 cents, although many things have changed since then, including the
cost of an 18-hole game.
A passion for golf had been sparked in my life. Golf is all of who
I am, but only part of where I have been. I raised a large family and
worked all day at my contracting business, which left very little time to
pursue my passion. I continued to play year after year when I could,
teaching myself along the way. I believe the mental and physical
disciplines needed to become a competent golfer are the same mental
and physical disciplines needed to endure life to its fullest.
I am currently a USGTF Level III member and as a teaching
professional I have been blessed with the opportunity to pass my
love and knowledge for the game on to hundreds of people from
many different generations.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks
to the USGTF for the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion
for the game of golf, as well as sincere thanks to USGTF examiner,
Bob Wyatt Jr.
