The USGTF Northeast Region Championship was held on Saturday, July 19, at the Great Bear Country Club in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Twenty-seven competitors from seven different states and one participant from Canada enjoyed playing in ideal conditions, with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s. The tournament was set up with players competing in five divisions according to age groups, along with a low gross winner. Martin Nolletti was the champion of the event with a score of 75. This was Nolletti’s first professional tournament since his father’s death (who was also a professional golfer), and was proud to have played so well that day. In the under-50 division, Andy Pierson repeated as winner, with Petch Bhumibhanit finishing second. In the 50 to 59 division, Lee Richardson fired a 79 and was runner-up in that division to Nolletti. In the 60 to 69 division, Ed Williams, the defending overall champion, won with a score of 76. Joe Casey finished second in a match of cards with Doug Pierce. Ingred Narken won the Women’s division for the third time with a score of 77. Northeast Region director John Savage took the over-70 division with a score of 79.
