Cole Golden from Wichita, Kansas, and Carlos de Barros from Lake Worth, Florida, were named co-champions of the USGTF Southwest Region Championship after finishing tied for first. First round leader D.B. Merrill from Muskogee, Oklahoma, finished third with a score of 155. Rounding out the top five were SW Region director Bruce Sims from Frisco, Texas in fourth place and Jeff Kennedy from Plano, Texas, in fifth. The event was played at Ridgeview Ranch in Plano. Two more USGTF regional championships have been set. Central Region director Keith Dunklebarger has announced that his region’s championship will be played Monday, August 10, at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin, Illinois, just south of Peoria. At one time, Lick Creek was ranked by Golf Digest as one of the nation’s 75 best public courses. Southeast Region director Mike Stevens has announced that the 8th annual SE Region Championship will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26, at GlenLakes Country Club in Weeki Wachee, Florida, a private Ron Garl-designed layout approximately 45 miles north of Clearwater. The entry fee is $175 and includes two rounds of golf, range balls, and prize money. Stevens will host the annual meeting and banquet Saturday night at a restaurant in the area.
