Chairman Lionel Freedman is delighted to announce that Sandy Lyle has confirmed his entry for this year’s World Hickory Open at Panmure in Scotland and will try to reclaim the title he won in 2014. He was also pleased to hear that Cliff Martin, last year’s winner of the Archie Baird Trophy, is coming back to defend and compete to be the World Hickory Champion. Andrew Marshall, the 2015 champion, as well as Paolo Quirici (2013) and Rick Valentine (2012), will all be challenging again, as will USGTF Southeast Region director Mike Stevens, who will lead Team USA in a triangular match against Sweden and a World Select Team following the WHO. The professional purse for the tournament is sponsored by the USGTF and WGTF in keeping with their tradition of supporting the history and heritage of the game.
