By Russ Gorman, President of Corporate Golf Wellness, LLC   In this article, you get to delve into my weekly diary to see what goes on in the life of a real-life corporate golf instructor.   MONDAY, JUNE 10   8:00 a.m. – Start off week at the indoor range to organize activities 11:00 a.m – 8:00 p.m. – At golf tournament for Variety Club, invited to play with team from Beer Capitol Distributors. The event is totally paid for by the Beer Capitol distributor from lunch through dinner. Playing as their team captain with three MillerCoors managers. We win the event with a scratch scramble score of 14 under par. A fun day had by all, beating the Budweiser team by one stroke…bragging rights for now!   TUESDAY, JUNE 11   8:00a.m – 11:00 a.m. – Conduct three one-hour junior golf classes for children of S.C. Johnson (Johnson Wax) employees at their outdoor range. This school costs $100 per child for the 10 weeks, and we have a total of 40 juniors in the program. 11:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. – I hold the first of my daily “lunch-time” golf lessons for employees of S.C. Johnson at the same driving range. 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – I complete my full day at S.C. Johnson with normal “afternoon” golf lessons and club fittings for employees.   WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12   8:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m. – Conduct my normal “morning” open golf lessons for spouses and families of Briggs & Stratton employees. These lessons are held at one of my independent driving ranges, because only employees are insured inside the company facilities. 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – I conduct the second of my “lunch-time” open golf lessons for employees of Briggs & Stratton. 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – It’s time for afternoon golf lessons and club fittings for employees of Briggs & Stratton.   THURSDAY, JUNE 13   8:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m. – Hold my normal “morning” open golf lessons for spouses and families of MillerCoors. Again, I hold these at another of my independent driving ranges close to their plant. 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – More “lunch-time” open golf lessons for employees of MillerCoors. 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – It’s “Miller Time” with “afternoon” lessons and fittings.   FRIDAY, JUNE 14   8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – More “morning” open golf lessons for spouses and families of Quad Graphics at another independent range. 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – The last day of “lunch-time” lessons for employees of Quad Graphics. 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – It’s afternoon golf lessons and fittings. We always end lessons early on Friday nights!   SATURDAY, JUNE 15   8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.– Open golf lessons at S.C. Johnson driving range for all employees.   SUNDAY, JUNE 16   OFF ALL DAY! I sometimes play golf with customers, students, or friends, and enjoy most of the day with my family.   (NOTE: During this week in June, I fit four students for new iron sets, plus three drivers and six fairway woods/hybrids. From my car “traveling” inventory, I sold a total of 10 dozen golf balls, one case of sunscreen, and one case of BugX. I also sold 15 close-out golf shirts – some of the clubs and shirts had to be ordered…a good week!)
