FIRST BULGARIAN GOLF TEACHERS FEDERATION TOURNAMENT HELD

Golfers from the USA, Netherlands, Serbia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, and of course Bulgaria participated in the first WGTF tournament held in Bulgaria at Pirin Golf & Country Club May 3-7. Dutch teaching professional Bjorn Beackman won overall honors in the individual competition, while George Kolchakov captured second place. A pro-am was also held, and the final day saw a Stableford competition. Special guests, USGTF president Geoff Bryant and Dutch GTF president Edward Verstraten, were also in attendance.   Ilko Yotzev, the president of WGTF of Bulgaria and president of Golf Club Bulgaria, expressed his belief about the beginning of a bright future for Bulgarian golf. He stated, “Starting with this very beginning WGTF tournament, we are establishing long-term relationships with golf teaching professionals from all over the world and helping Bulgarian golfers to be integrated in the world golf society.”
