Kiawah Island is located just 21 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina. When you come to Kiawah, you’ll know if it’s right for you the moment you set foot on the Island. Based in the Golf Learning Center at Cassique, the Director of Instruction has the overall responsibility of delivering a successful and comprehensive instructional program through planning, organizing, promoting, and developing all instructional curriculum. The position requires a golf instructor who possesses good communication skills, a desire for continuous improvement, and a true passion for growing the game.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer the instructional operations to include golf instruction, Member experience, team development, and Member programming.
Provide comprehensive instructional programs that enhance interest and enthusiasm for all demographics and levels of playing ability to include private lessons, clinics, golf schools, seminars, etc.
Proactively market and promote our instructional program offerings to the Membership and create new, exciting, and relevant instructional programs on an annual basis.
Actively evaluate different instructional offerings such as guest instructors, clinics, group functions and glow golf events.
Train and develop Club Golf Professionals to provide high quality instruction, ensure teamwork, and consistency in teaching programs.
Provide mentoring services and development opportunities regarding instruction for the Golf Professionals and Outside Operations Professionals.
Cultivate and maintain an effective working relationship with the entire Golf Operation Team and Club Management.
Oversee the management of teaching aids, instructional equipment, and technology necessary for high level instruction.
Utilize the Club website to develop an Instruction Menu that outlines the Club’s instructional programs, delivers frequent video golf tips, allows students to access data, all on a continual basis.
Supervise upkeep of Golf Learning Center to ensure that safe, clean, organized and professional conditions exist throughout the day (Golf Services Supervisor and Housekeeping Overall Responsibility).
Be available to assist the Professional Staff during major club events.
Create opportunities to be involved with the Membership including playing golf regularly and presence on the driving range at both courses.
Assist the Club in possible future practice facility and/or Golf Learning Center enhancements.
Present a year-end instructional report outlining participation in all programs and evaluation of new initiatives along with setting an action plan and goals for the following year.
Assist Director of Club fitting with promotion of equipment sales.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven background of expanding responsibilities and duties at high-end private clubs.
Experience in a leading role managing the instructional program and staff development.
Minimum of 3 years as a Teaching Professional or Director of Instruction at a high-end private club.
Additional experience and certifications looked upon favorably.
Minimum College Bachelor’s Degree preferred or any other combination of education, training or experience that provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
