USGTF member Sachin Bhattarai, head teaching professional at Royal Nepal Golf Club, informs the USGTF National Office that the recent earthquake in that country has affected the golf club and its employees. According to Bhattarai, “The earthquake has made equal damage to the golf courses and staffs in the Kathmandu Valley. Many course workers and caddies have lost their homes in Gokama Golf Resort and Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu. And to top it all, the fairways are still being used by neighboring people as temporary shelters. Hence, the caddies who earn their daily living are unable to work. RNGC, being a social club, is also facing a huge loss as the course is closed. The main challenge now is to help the victims to rebuild their houses, as RNGC and the Nepal Golf Association do not have the funds for this. The NGA has asked a few overseas golf associations for financial assistance for this cause. Currently, we have around 34 caddies and also around 12 ground staff who have lost their houses.” USGTF members who wish to contribute may do so with the following information: Name – Nepal Golf Association Address – Royal Nepal Golf Club, TIA, Airport, Tilganga, Kathmandu, Nepal Phone – 4494247, 9779841241270 Bank Name – Himalayen Bank Limited, Patan Branch Address – Pata, Lalitpur Swift Code – HIMANPKA Account Number – 00600984480013
